Young people in South Africa are addicted to a drug called nyaope, which is a mixture of marijuana with low grade heroine sprinkled on top, in which people smoke to get a cheap high of $2 (converted into US dollars.) Once you try the drug, addicts believe you are instantly addicted. Some users want to quit but cannot because their body will be sick without it since they've been using for so long.
Although they drug contains heroine, it is still in the process of becoming an illegal substance, the government is having a hard time prosecuting cases involving the drug. There have been reports of police working with the drug dealers.
In order to prevent further use, the government has funded nonprofit organization helping drug addicts rehabilitate.
