Summary:

-Disputes between protesters supporting the deposed former president Mohamed Morsi and security forces ended in the destruction of property in the Malawi Museum in Upper Egypt. On August 14th, the pro-Morsi protesters broke in, damaged the property, and shot the guards with one dead. There is a mass of broken glass and damaged sarcophagi from ancient Egyptian kings. The curators discovered that 40 objects of the museum’s 1,080 are missing. The Malawi Museum put out a report on the International Council of Museum’s (ICOM) Red List for Egypt to stop the items from being illegally smuggled or traded. To take it a step further, the State Minister of Antiquities, Mohamed Ibrahim, encouraged the Malawi public to hand over any items they may have without being arrested.
