Title- Cheers, jeers over teenager who flew in tyre hole
Source- The Punch

On August 26, 2013, Nigeria’s most widely read newspaper, The Punch, featured a story about a teenage male who stowed away in the tyre hole of a plane.  People of Nigeria are responding to this situation in different ways over social media.

Daniel Ikehina sneaked into the tyre compartment of a Lagos-bound Arik plane in Benin in hopes to fly to Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos.  Many Nigerians feel he should be punished for his actions, while others are amazed at his bravery.  Most Nigerians feel it is a mere example of how unsafe the airports are.  The Nigerians that feel this way are saying things like, “If that boy was carrying bomb, it means he would have succeeded in blowing up the plane. How can somebody be in an aircraft without being detected? We are in trouble in this country.”  Others feel that he should be commended and he should be accepted into the CIA or become a federal spy.

This act was not safe at all, Ikehina could have died while aboard the tyre compartment.  Security needs to come up with a different approach of keeping passengers safe.  This could be an idea given to a terrorist and before we know it, planes are being blown up left and right.

  1. Wow! I never thought anyone doing that before. He must have been really sneaky and had a real good reason to take such lengths at getting away.
