According to a highly placed military source, 40 soldiers of the Nigerian Army were killed in a Boko Haram ambush, north of Borno State.  In addition to 40 soldiers being killed, 65 soldiers were reported missing as a result of the attack from the Islamic militants.  The attack took place in Kasiya Forests.  The troops were left to face the exceedingly armed insurgents.  The troops were attacked from several different directions and aerial support was not provided to the soldiers.  The Army spokesman said the invading troops of the Nigerian Army killed 150 of the insurgents and lost 15 men in the encounter, adding that nine other soldiers were still missing.   He said that the insurgents were well armed with anti-aircraft and anti-tank weapons mounted on their vehicles.
