Madagascar was listed as one of World’s least developing nations. On average, Malagasy people make US $290 a year, about 70 percent of their population is under their own poverty line, which is 45 cents a day. It is also sitting as the 45th most corrupted nation in the world. But that’s actually an improvement considering they used to sit as the 4th most corrupt nation. Because they have rapid population growth, but low health care and periodic famine, people will do anything for the right price, including human trafficking. Today Madagascar is trying to pick itself up with a revised constitution and new presidency but after decades of a bad government the long-term effect is uncertain. And yet most Malagasy are proud of their country. They see the potential in it and can’t wait for it to flourish. They want their people to prosper while still maintaining their traditional Malagasy ways.
