Egypt: Govt Declares State of Emergency in Sinai

Cairo — Egypt has declared a state of emergency in the northern Sinai and imposed a three-hour curfew after Friday's terrorist attack that killed 31 army soldiers.

The government declared a three-month state of emergency in the northern and central Sinai Peninsula and closed the Rafah border crossing to Gaza until further notice.
A nightlong curfew was also imposed in towns and villages across the Sinai. Egypt's President Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi said the deadly assault on an army checkpoint in the Sinai Peninsula was a "foreign-funded operation." "There is a big conspiracy against us," he added while standing with army commanders ahead of a military funeral for the slain soldiers and officers.
No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.
