Islamist Party In Tunisia To Step Down

Ennahda - Tunisia's islamist party,thrown  into power by the Arab Spring, has agreed to step down after months of political struggle with opposition. In three weeks the Ennahda government is to give over power to an independent government that will lead the country through elections in the spring. The deal comes as part of negotiations to restart Tunisia’s democratic transition after opposition groups, protesting the assassinations of two of their politicians, stalled work on a new constitution and an election law this summer. The move comes less than three months after the Islamist government of President Mohamed Morsi of Egypt, also elected during the Arab Spring uprisings, was ousted by the military. 

Egyptian Gunmen Kill 2 Police Officers and 1 Soldiers

Gunmen killed 2 police men and 1 soldier in Egypt's northern Sinai on Monday, officials said, in the latest attack to hit the volatile peninsula. These men attacked several on their way to work, and wounded a 3rd officer, then got away by car. Later that officer died in a military hospital. Also on Sunday a bomb went off targeting army vehicles in the same area. No injuries occurred, but these attacks have been going on for a while. With more than 100 policemen and soldiers killed, so the military is stepping up to take care of militant hideouts. This all happened because the Islamist president MOhammed Morsi was ousted last July. 

Congo explosions: Soldiers jailed by Brazzaville court

Corporal Kakom Kouack Blood, was sentenced to 15 years' hard labour for wilfully setting fire to the depot in the capital, Brazzaville.Twenty-six others blamed at the time on a short-circuit that caused a fire.The explosions wounded more than 2,300 and left 17,000 homeless.Explosion was so powerful that homes and buildings miles away got windows blown in roofs damaged & people blown away.The criminal court in Brazzaville also sentenced the former deputy secretary general to the national security council to five years' hard labor for his role in the explosions.

48-year-old Nick Udeh was arrested by the Nigerian Immigration Service, Lagos State Command, for impersonating a journalist.  Udeh presented fake documents to get favors from the Comptroller of the command, Mr. Julius Ogbu.  Udeh, along with others, posed as employees of Newswatch Magazine.  He was caught when the comptroller referred him to command’s pubic relations officer, Muyiwa Odunubi.  After claiming a written letter of his, Udeh pleaded for mercy.  He said, “I have never been an employee of Newswatch magazine.  I know that in the media, some people blackmail. But this one is totally out of it.”

     Kofi Awoonor was born in Wheta, on March 13 1935. As a young man he loved dance, music, and rhythm, he was the life of the party. He also had a good way with words and could to his way in and out of things. He was famous for his poet, writer, acting, dramatist, teacher, politician, diplomat, and statesman skills. Now at 78 he probably wasn't the same ladies man that he was during his younger days, but he still has the same passion for Ghana, writing, and the black community as a whole. It is sad to end his legacy with such a gruesome death form an al-Shabab operator. Also what makes this death so unfit for this legend is that he was killed in the publics eyes. Kofi was attending a literary arts festival in Nairobi when he was killed in a siege at a Kenya shopping centre by a terrorist that was part of the al-Shabab.

Fezzan: No state, Three peoples.

Summary:

Since the death of Qaddafi, the people of Fezzan have been divided into three main ethnic groups: Arabs, Tebus, Tuaregs. Without state authority, each group is trying to make their own rules. Each one lives in a specific location. For example, in the Qaheera area, the Arabs, Tebus, and Tuaregs each have their own block. Last year, a neighboring tribe got in a fight with the Tuaregs, but the situation got under control. Everyone is staying on their own block, but now their is a security problem because the police don't want to go in that area. Criminals have better weapons than them, so they are afraid.

Angola Willing To Help Portugal

Angola is trying to help Portugal as they go through a financial crisis. It is estimated that their economy is going to shrink by 2% each year and Angola's is supposed to increase by 12%. So they are working together so that it will benefit both economies. They are giving Portugal a 107bn bailout but they have to agree to open up new economic reforms. Angolan companies own 3.8% of the companies in Portugal's stock exchange. Overall they want to take their financial crisis to strengthen their relationships with neighboring countries.
