9 U.N Peace Keepers Killed in Ambush
In Menaka, Mali Friday, 9 U.N representatives were killed during an ambush. Their convoy was attacked by heavily armed men driving motorcycles. The U.N workers were from from Nigeria. Attacks on U.N workers are becoming more frequent. Two weeks ago, five U.N workers were killed and 3 injured. No one knows who is responsible for the attacks.
The U.N's mission was to guard against militant Islamist who threatened West Africa's nations capital of Bamako. It was a peacekeeping mission.
